Tamson Overholtzer’s practice focuses on helping individuals, couples, families and children who find they are having difficulties or conflict in their relationships. Much of her work with clients is Gestalt Therapy-based, with an emphasis on personal empowerment, communication and self-esteem. Tamson assists her clients in identifying their values and supports them as they discover how they can live more in alignment with those values.
Tamson’s therapeutic philosophy, grounded in Gestalt theory, provides a framework in which she facilitates the integration of each client as a whole: Mind / Body / Spirit. She collaborates with her clients and with other professionals to create an individual treatment plan designed to support each client in improving their relationships and well-being.
In addition to Marriage and Family Therapy, Tamson Overholtzer is also a divorce and child custody mediator. Through mediation, Tamson is able to provide an alternative to adversarial divorce or child custody proceedings. She helps clients reduce conflict and develop solutions that will meet the best interests of both parties and, especially, the needs of their children.
In her personal life, Tamson is committed to living in integrity with her own values, including doing work that she believes will benefit others. Being a therapist focused on helping clients create deeper and more meaningful relationships with themselves and with others is an important part of living in alignment with that value.
Tamson enjoys being outdoors, yoga, gardening, home restoration, reading, traveling, photography and knitting. Tamson is an avid “snail mail” correspondent, and keeps in touch with family and friends who live out of town, out of state or out of the country with her ever-expanding collection of cards and stationery.
